My handcrafted leather oak leaf hair slides are available in three stunning fall hues – choose from brown, flame or golden oak leaves. They’re the embodiment of autumn, in rich warm tones that are earthy and bold.
This style is fashioned after white oak leaves, with their soft rounded lobes; I offer another variation that was inspired by red oak leaves, with more angular “spiked” lobes. Again, this listing is for the rounded oak leaves shown in the first several photos.
The leaves measure about 5″ when stretched out flat, though they curve up to be a bit smaller when worn. The holes are spaced at about 3.25″ apart, which is a medium spacing. If your hair is fine, you may want to use a hair tie to secure your hair and then fasten the hair stick through that. If your hair is very thick, this size will probably work best for partial updo’s.
Over the years that I’ve been making these, I’ve learned that not all sticks are created equal. The cheap mass produced hair sticks are too thin and the tips tend to break off or splinter. And sharpened dowel is not only unattractive, it’s bad for your hair. Instead, I use high quality wooden hair sticks in a variety of beautiful colors. Photos 2-4 show the different stick colors along with the different leaf colors, so that you can choose the combination that you like best. Photo #5 shows just the hairsticks, and each color is labeled. When you choose your stick type from the drop down menu, it will also include the approximate length (length varies a bit on these) as well as whether the end is rounded or squared.
This design is part of an open ended series. Since each one is handcrafted, there will be minor variations from one to the next; your hair accessory will be of the same style and quality as the ones shown here. I offer this style in a variety of colors. This listing is for ONE leaf barrette in the fall color of your choice. I also offer these in a range of reds and in hues of green.
