This one of a kind leather cuff was inspired by the Silvery Blue butterfly (AKA glaucopsyche lygdamus). The butterfly was hand crafted from top quality tooling leather, which was cut and carved then painted in soft hues of pale blue, silver and pearl. The colors have an iridescent sheen that shifts from subtle to glowing, depending on the light.
The butterfly’s body is comprised of a single shimmering blue kyanite spear, which is accented with a detailed Bali silver (9.25 silver) filigree. The silver piece has a glowing labradorite cabochon at the center.
The butterfly rests on a background of luxuriously soft ultrasuede in off white and periwinkle. This was hand stitched to the cuff using glass seed beads and sterling silver plated charlotte cut seed beads. The cuff measures about 1.25″ higher (slightly taller at the center, where the butterfly sits) by about 6″ around. The finding is slightly flexible, so it will accommodate a variety of wrist sizes from 6″ on up to about 7″.
