Here’s another recent commission for a feathered moth mask. It went to a repeat client (thank you, I appreciate you!) who already owns a similar mask that I made in olive green. She wanted this one to have more of a steampunk vibe, with rich browns, metallic golds and coppers, and just a bit of green. It’s the first time that I’ve created one of these masks in these hues, and I really like it! Even more importantly, my customer was very happy with it.
I recently crafted this snow angel headpiece for beautiful Leonie of Nova Star Productions. It felt a bit strange to be working on a winter themed piece in the dead of summer, but since my client lives in Australia, it actually makes sense! I think this is the 3rd or 4th headdress that she has commissioned for her stilt walkers performance troupe. They perform at festivals and events down under, and their job is essentially to spread magic and make people smile!
Just popping in to share a quick customer photo! Our kitchen remodel is in full effect, so the studio is still pretty quiet right now … but a client shared this recent photo of a custom cobalt blue imp mask that I made for her husband, and I wanted to share it here as well. I really love it when you send me pictures of my work “out in the wild”, it’s so rewarding to see these pieces being enjoyed!

This custom moth necklace is winging her way to her owner today. While it’s simple on the surface, the piece holds special meaning and function for the wearer. These are my favorite projects – the ones that are personal, meaningful and even healing in their own way.
This piece was a pleasure to create, and the recipient was wonderful to work with. This has been true of all of the commissions that I’ve worked on this year – they’ve been great projects for lovely people. Thank you for that!
I love happy customer photos! In part because it really, really does my heart good to see people out there enjoying my work … and in part because it enables me to show people what my pieces look like when they’re being worn. Right now, I am sorely in need of photos of my hair accessories in action; if you’ve purchased one of my hair toys, might I trouble you for a picture? Better yet, can you send me a photo AND fill out the brief questionnaire below? I’d be ever so grateful!
As many of my long standing customers know, when you share your customer photos with me, I offer a 10% discount off your next order*. This is a standing policy, and it applies to all of my wearable art products (hair accessories, jewelry, costumes). Just to sweeten the deal, if you send a photo of your Beadmask hair accessory in action AND fill out the questionnaire, I will even up that to 15%!!
There are two small caveats to this offer ~ the first is that your discount can only be used for ready made/in stock items (no custom work), and the second is that the photo must be of a hair accessory that I made (this may seem obvious, but just trust me that it’s worth clarifying!). That’s pretty simple – and hopefully pretty fair, right? Now show me your hair toys!
Just wanted to share this recent photo of a happy customer. Thank you Anna, for sharing this image — it makes me so happy to see my work being worn, and to know that it makes you happy!
This photo was taken at the Grateful Dead’s 4th of July “Fare Thee Well” shows. It’s particularly special to me, not only because it’s a photo of some of my favorite people, but because it represents a much needed realization and a shift in perspective. Sales have been lean since Etsy jumped the shark, and it’s been hard not to take that personally. The lull in business has made it hard to get by and frankly, it has caused me to question my creative work as well as my sanity!
There were several times that weekend when I looked up and realized that ALL of the beautiful women surrounding me were wearing my beadwork! These ladies are not only beautiful, they are powerful… healers, teachers, mothers, artists and so much more. It dawned on me that all of these goddesses that I admire are rocking MY work — and many of them have chosen to do so for decades! Seeing this was an incredible affirmation that my work – and its maker – will be just fine.
So at the risk of being long winded and/or sappy, I’d like to say thank you to the life long friends who have supported me all these years, to my loyal customers, and to everyone who shares and encourages my work today. It means more than you know, I’m deeply grateful <3
I have a great collection of customer photos of my masks and costume accessories, but I don’t have very many “action shots” of people wearing my hair toys. With your help, I’d love to correct that! I’d like to put together a nice little gallery of my hair accessories in action, and while I’m at it, I want to develop a general sizing guideline.
There’s a simple questionnaire below, with a spot to upload photos. It should take 5 minutes or less to complete. As a thank you, you’ll get 10% off your next purchase from my website or Etsy shop. Please understand that this offer is only open to MY customers, since obviously, it would be really inappropriate for me to include photos of other artisans’ work in my website gallery.
The 10% discount is a standing offer, open to anyone who has purchased one of my hair accessories and is willing to share their photos and feedback … but just to sweeten the deal, anyone who participates between now and December 23rd, 2014 can also get two extra entries in my Winter Giveaway!
Please feel free to share this promotion on the forums, and with your friends and family members who own my hair accessories 🙂
