The elegant leather barn owl feather barrette was handcrafted with love and skill.
This piece was created using premium tooling leather, which was hand cut, carved, shaped and painted, then sealed with a protective top coat. It was fashioned after a barn owl feather, and painted in soft neutral tones of beige, ivory, taupe, white, and brown.
It fastens with artisan crafted lacewood hair stick, which measures about 7.25″ long. The feather measures about 6″ long when stretched out flat, though it will curve up to be smaller when worn. The holes on this piece are spaced a tad over 3.75″ inches apart, which is a medium to large size.
As a bird watcher, I’m particularly fond of owls and this is reflected in my work. They’re stunning creatures and their beauty has captivated people across time and culture; they’re celebrated in fairytales, myth and folklore around the globe.
My leather craft is created using high quality materials and over 25 years of leather working skill. Beauty and quality craftsmanship are important to me, so I don’t do “quick and dirty” work; I patiently design, carve, shape, paint and seal each piece. It’s a slow process comprised of many steps, but the end result is an original handmade work of wearable art that you can be proud to gift or cherish for years to come.
