This gray leather feather hair slide was loosely inspired by some Cooper’s Hawk (or possibly Sharp Shinned Hawk) feathers that I found on a walk. The colors are a mix of neutral tones, including black, white, and several shades of gray. The color has been sealed with a water resistant top coat.
The holes are spaced at about 3.5″ apart, which is a medium – large size. If your hair is of average thickness, it should work well for log rolls and updo’s; if your hair is especially long or thick, it will probably work better for partial updo’s, as a ponytail holder, or even as a shawl pin. It is shown here with a white wooden stick, though you can choose a black wood stick if you prefer.
As with all of my leather craft, this piece was created using high quality materials and over 25 years of leather working skill. Beauty and quality craftsmanship are important to me, so I don’t do “quick and dirty” work; I patiently design, carve, shape, dye, paint and seal each piece. It’s a slow process comprised of many steps, but the end result is a handmade work of wearable art that you can be proud to gift or cherish for years to come.
