These handcrafted leather peacock feather earrings are sure to garner compliments! I created the feathers from tooling leather, which was hand painted in shimmering shades of olive green, bronze, emerald green and cobalt. They dangle from antique copper colored wire, which I formed into links and spirals. The dangles are accented with faceted glass beads in teal-ish emerald and cobalt AB, as well as metallic bronze Swarovski crystals.
The hang from antique copper shepherds hook earring hooks (“antique copper” is a specialty coating over brass, that lends a nice aged reddish tone to the metal). The total length is about 3.75″, and they’ll dangle approximately 3″ from the base of the earlobe. They’re very lightweight, and they’ll swing beautifully as you move.
My leatherwork is crafted using high quality materials and over 25 years of leather working skill. Beauty and quality craftsmanship are important to me, so I don’t do “quick and dirty” work; I patiently design, carve, shape, dye, paint and seal each piece. This is more time consuming than other methods, but the end result is a handmade work of wearable art that you can be proud to gift or cherish for years to come.
As with all of my peacock items, a portion of this sale will be donated to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I do this in memory of my friend Mahala, who inspired this series.
