School is still taking up most of (what would be) my studio time, but I was able to complete this amanita/butterfly themed mask recently. The client who ordered this creates incredible fairytale worlds and gowns that make this mask seem simple by comparison. Besides being up to my eyeballs with school, I’ve been playing with art for art’s sake. That is, work that’s not for sale, created just for the joy of it. I’m experimenting with new media and skills, allowing myself to be a beginner, and to explore and make mistakes. It has been deeply gratifying. For as much as I love my academic course work, I’ve really missed art making! So, I’m glad to be making space for creativity in my life again, even if it’s just small scribbles in stolen moments 🙂
