Wild Hairs

My mom has been sending old photos. Here’s one of my daughter and me from 25-ish years ago. Based on her expression and the hair clip in her hand, I’m betting that I’d just chased her down to try to corral those wild hairs. It was a common occurrence back then 😂⠀

This child came in to the world with a full dark mane, and I just loved making her pretty little hair clips. I’d been making my own hair accessories long before she was born. Today she’s in grad school, and my once dark hair is now salt and pepper (extra salty). All these years later, and I’m still making barrettes for our wild hairs…

Time Flies

I’ve been busy lately, so time seems to be flying at warp speed! So much so, that I haven’t had time to blog. For a quick recap, here are some of the projects that have been keeping me busy of late:

leather-feather-barretteshair accessories galore

larger-hair-slides
and a few new and unusual jewelry designs

Skull & Rose Leather pendant

sculpted leather octopus necklace with lapis & kyanite

I’m working to get it all photographed and added to the site … wish me good luck!

Leaf Piles

There are little piles of leather leaves all over my studio right now. Oak leaves, maple leaves, sycamore and even a few fairy and elf leaves … all in a riot of autumn color.

Eventually they’ll be fashioned into hair accessories, such as hair slides, barrettes, clips and pins. Most likely, I won’t be able to work on these too much until November. “Mask season” is going full tilt right now, so (almost) all of my energy is going toward mask and costume design.

In truth, I probably should not have been working on leaves at all. If I were a more disciplined artisan, I would focus exclusively on masks this time of year … but I do love these little leaves, and it’s hard to resist making them when there’s so much inspiration around me!
