“Glitter and Grunge” is a one of a kind bead embroidered cuff . It was created using an assortment of unusual components. The eclectic ingredients share a few commonalities: brilliant sparkle, fabulous play of light effects and a sense of “tarnished beauty”.
The central stone is a 1960’s vintage glass cabochon in deep purple. It features an aurora borealis coating that lends bright flashes of fucshia and amber depending on the light. As is typical of glass of this age, the coating has some minor flaws but the striking beauty of the stone still shines through. Similarly, the two rock quartz crystals on each side are very organic with rough edges; they’ve been treated with a titanium coating that lends a brilliant purple/amber hue. The effect is gritty and elegant at the same time.
Also included are collectible Victorian era “nailhead” beads in bronze AB, Swarosvski margarita beads in vivid heliotrope purple, 1960’s vintage rose cabochons that shift from purple to green to blue, olive-y amber “spike” beads that are just too cool for words, and a pair of electric green beetle wings. These unusual bits and pieces are expertly set into a bead embroidered background of glass seed beads in matte metallic shades of purple ab, teal,lizard skin gold and metallic bronze.
The cuff measures about 1.75″ tall x 6″ around. It can flex to fit most wrist sizes, and it’s backed with luxurious ultrasuede in periwinkle.
